Most health advice begins with a general rule.

Being in practice for more than a decade I have patients come in all the time with random questions about the latest Tik Tok trend or IG Reel that shows a super fit athlete telling them how to get lean or get in better shape.

The worse are new food trends and supplements. I love when people are taking charge of their health and looking into things that can enhance their lives. But the reality is there’s too much information or noise out here. We are constantly be hit with advertisements for the next big thing designed to improve your life. The conversation usually goes something like this;

Most of the time people will try to out supplement a bad diet or bad behavior and end up just wasting their time effort and money simply because the application doesnt match the goal.

Strength by Science is built around a different idea: the science of you.

The idea of Strength by Science is to create a space to share ideas and improve fitness as a community. Like I said many of my patient come in asking very similar questions. I

Meet Dr. Marcus Waller

Dr. Marcus Waller is a chiropractor, health educator, and the founder of Strength by Science. After years of helping people manage pain, improve movement, and better understand their bodies, he recognized an important pattern: people often receive health instructions without being taught how to evaluate whether those instructions are actually working for them.

Strength by Science was created to close that gap.

The goal is not to give you another rigid program to follow. It is to help you become a more informed observer of your own health. As a health coach the goal is to help impower you to take more control of your health. I do this using fitness journaling and accountability check-ins

Your Body Is Always Giving You Information

Your body responds to everything you do.

It responds to the way you exercise, the food you eat, the amount of sleep you get, the stress you carry, and the time you allow for recovery. Even small changes in your routine can influence your energy, mood, strength, focus, digestion, and physical comfort.

These responses are information.

When you begin paying attention to that information, health becomes less about guessing and more about learning.

Say on Tuesday a particular workout leaves you feeling stronger and more energized, but then you hit it hard again on Thursday but this time you walk away feeling like you just got a beat down. Going back to your tracking you would be able to understand that Monday night you got the proper sleep and prepared for your workout the night before. But all of a sudden you’re still running on the high of the previous workout but went to sleep at 2 in the morning doom scrolling and dragged yourself into the gym.

Making these little connections helps you move a little differently. Instead of trying to hit the same workout as the previous maybe go for a light jog, a walk, yoga or something else less stressful.

But I have tools on my phone that can do the same thing…

By all means if that works for you more power to you but we all know we have thousands of screenshots and notes that we never go back to looking at. But a physical journal puts a healthy barrier of friction between you and the goal which makes things much more rewarding.

There are many studies showing that writing down a goal, more specifically a S.M.A.R.T. goal you are more likely to hit the mile stones versus just thinking about it.

If that sounds like something that you would be interested in I encourage you to sign up for my newsletter where I will share exercise tips, health advice, and ideas of how you can improve your quality of life simply by tracking and learning how your body works.

Your starting point is not something to judge. It is simply your baseline the place from which progress can be measured.
